Katherine accepts briefs in a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters, and has particular expertise in financial services, consumer protection and corporate law.

Prior to the Bar, Katherine practiced as a solicitor for a Melbourne-based firm specialising in financial services and commercial law. She has extensive experience in regulatory investigations and enforcement matters, including representing clients subject to compulsory notices and examinations, licence cancellations and bannings. She regularly advised on complex regulatory and statutory interpretation issues, particularly in relation to consumer protection, insurance, credit and financial services laws. Katherine is experienced in consumer remediation and commercial disputes, including contractual disputes, Australian Consumer Law claims, director and shareholder disputes, trail commission disputes and insolvency matters.

Katherine also worked as a lawyer and investigator at the financial services regulator. As part of this role, she conducted prosecutions of summary offences, prepared director banning briefs and drafted responses to administrative appeals on behalf of the regulator.

Katherine accepts appearance and opinion briefs nationally. She is also available to deliver tailored training and complex AFSL/ACL licensing support.

Katherine was admitted to practice in 2011. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice (First Class Hons) and Bachelor of International Studies. Katherine is member of the Law Society of South Australia and the Law Council of Australia’s Consumer Law Committee.
